There are handful buses which leaves for Panama - Monaragala  route number 303 and Pottuvil to Monaragala which drive towards Monaragala town. Those buses stop at Pottuvil main bus stand. You need to hire a tuk tuk (three-wheeler) to reach Pottuvil bus station it may cost around 4 - 5 USD (depends on the season). After you take the bus from Pottuvil to Monaragala your destination should be Monaragala bus station. It will at-least 1.5 hours reach Monaragala from Pottuvil.

When reaching Monaragala bus station get off from the bus and search for Monaragala - Matara bus in bus depot. Monaragala - Matara route number 35 buses operate 04:00 to 18:00 time period from Monaragala end. Bus fare for Monaragala to Matara will less than 3 USD. It advisable to plan your journey in day time and avoid take more afternoon buses towards Matara. Because entire journey from Monaragala to Matara will takes at-least 5 hours.
